David MacKenzie has over twenty years of public accounting experience with an additional ten years working as a Chief Financial Officer for both public and private companies.  

He has worked with a wide range of domestic and foreign entities providing traditional CFO services that have included selection and establishment of proper business entities; drafting, implementing and monitoring strategic and operational business plans; managing relationships with investors, staff and service providers; and overall responsibility for operations.

Mr. MacKenzie has primarily served early stage and middle market companies across a wide
range of industries from retail and distributors to software development and Web 2.0 companies.  He has a broad base of experience and knowledge with respect to all aspects of management decision making relating to strategic planning and informed, timely business decisions.  Specific examples of his experience include:

  Responsibility for all facets of a public company’s finance and accounting including taking the company public through a successful reverse merger, preparation and filing of all public company documents required under the rules of the Securities and Exchange Commission and providing presentations to the investors and Board.

  Managing finance, accounting, human resources, legal, facilities, and information systems of the North American subsidiary of a European company publically traded on the German exchange.  Responsible for all finance and control activities to accomplish strategic goals and coordinate inter-company activities with the parent company to achieve globalization of operations and organizational objectives of the worldwide company.

  Member of a multi-national management team that raised a significant capital investment used for the acquisition of a major competitor.  Relocated and successfully integrated all accounting, finance and administrative operations of the combined company after the acquisition.

  Regularly served as the advisor to established and start-up privately held enterprises.
Projects included overseeing accounting activities, introductions to and interactions with other key service providers, business tax compliance services, financial reporting, budgeting and forecasting as well as income tax planning and reporting.

Mr. MacKenzie has a Bachelors degree from the University of Oregon and a Masters of Business Administration degree from the University of Utah.  He is a member of the American and California Societies of CPAs. His community activities have included serving on the Capital Campaign Committee of the Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital at Stanford, the Research Institute Board of Directors of the Palo Alto Medical Foundation and the Board of the Friends of the Palo Alto Parks where he was the past Treasrer.  He also is a past Treasurer of the Palo Alto Black and White Ball and a member and Past President of the Palo Alto University Rotary Club.

David lives in Palo Alto with his wife Helen. Together they have three grown sons. He is passionate about Stanford athletics and all things Scottish, many times attending events in his kilts.
