Mary is Senior Vice President and Principal of Heffernan Insurance Brokers, focusing her efforts with the company’s TechCHOICE practice.  Mary applies her risk management skills to develop and implement risk management insurance programs on behalf of her clients, primarily global technology companies.  Mary is expert in Directors & Officers Liability, Errors & Omissions and other intellectual property coverages.
Mary is “fourth generation insurance” and began her insurance career as a mail clerk in her father’s surplus lines brokerage firm in Omaha, Nebraska at the age of thirteen.  In the industry for fourteen years, Mary has developed a substantial clientele comprised of technology companies from start-ups to large multinational public companies.

Mary has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics from The Colorado College, Colorado Springs, Colorado.  Mary holds several insurance designations including:  Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU), Associate in Risk Management (ARM) and Associate in Surety & Fidelity Bonding (AFSB).  She just recently earned her RPLU designation, Registered Professional Liability Underwriter, a D&O and E&O specialty program.  Mary is a class instructor for the Insurance Education Association and active in several insurance industry associations.  Mary is frequently a public speaker on various panels related to insurance matters affecting the technology industry.
